No matter the level of your cycling experience, the best way to stay on top of your cycling sports journey is to participate in competitions and events. The UK has a rich selection of cycling events and competitions to be a part of. Here are some of the top cycling competitions in the UK.

Sidley London Revolution

This two-day cycling event takes cyclists from the Lee Valley Showground through the heart of London and then through Surrey, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Hertfordshire, and  Windsor. An over 200km of leg pumping action.

Fred Whitton Challenge

This cycling event is held annually in the English Lake District. Starting in 1999, the event starts and finishes in Grasmere, and the route is 183 km long. The route takes riders through Ambleside to the Lake District’s most famous passes like Kirkstone, Honister, Hardknott and Wrynose, and Blea Tarn and back to Grasmere.

Etape Caledonia

This is a closed-road cycling race with about 5,000 participants annually. It attracts riders from all over the UK and beyond. The ride allows participants to experience the spectacular Scottish Highlands. The amazing scenery offers views of lochs, forests and rolling mountain ranges.

Dragon Ride

The Dragon Ride is one of the oldest and most iconic cycling events in the UK. The event takes riders over the hills of South Wales and the Brecon Beacons National Park. The routes include the ‘Dragon Devil’ at 305 km, the Gran Fondo at 230 km, the Medio Fondo at 153 km and the Macmillan 100 at 100 km.

RideLondon

This is an annual cycling festival held in London. Inspired by the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, the event consists of a series of cycling events on closed roads around London and Essex for amateur and professional cyclists. There is a cycling event for everyone.

Tour Of Cambridgeshire

This cycling event includes all levels of riders, with multiple distances and event types. It features a Road Race, Gran Fondo, multiple Sportive distances, a Time Trial and a Family Fondo. It’s a certified event in the UCI Gran Fondo World Series, and winners can take part in the  UCI Gran Fondo World Championship.
